BW-AS3 bluetooth Speaker review
The Loa bw as3 from Blitzwolf is a high quality and high power speaker with cylindrical housing covered in fabric and a touch interface on top to control the device, weighing at around 2 kilograms. The BW-AS3 is a nice portable speaker that is great for using around the house and bringing to places where you want a loud speaker with 360 sound.
The BW-AS3 has a fairly striking design, based on a cylinder with a illuminated touch control system on the top. On this, you can link the speaker to another speaker via the TWS function, activate your phones voice assistant, play, pause, skip and change volume. I have found it a little clunky to use however – you have to press pretty hard and it still takes me a while to do functions on the speaker so I usually end up doing them on my phone.
The whole speaker is covered in a fabric, which gives it a premium and simplistic look. It comes with 360 sound, so you can place it in the centre of the room with Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity. It can also be connected with a 3.5mm cable, or via NFC. A microphone is also built in so you can use it with your phones voice assistant or to answer calls.
The speaker has an impressive battery life – with a capacity of 12000 mAh, it can provide up to 20 hours of use when the speaker is at half volume. It comes with a USB-C port for charging, which is a nice touch.
Regarding sound, the speaker can go pretty loud, where you have to shout to be heard by the person next to you. The sound is bassy and booming – this does reduce some of the mids and trebles however. Despite this, the speaker does sound good – when dropping the noise levels down you regain some of the lost middle and higher notes.
The Loa bw as3 new is a nice speaker – it has 360 sound, can get very loud with nice sound, and has good battery life. The build quality is very nice, albeit the touch controls can be quite hard to use. Despite this, I would still recommend the speaker.
BlitzWolf recently launched the BW-AS3, a powerful, portable speaker that looks a lot like the Tronsmart T6 Max. However, there are some small differences in terms of specifications. We have the same cylindrical aluminum housing, covered entirely in a fabric type material. At least that’s what I understand from the presentation images. It weighs almost 2 kilograms, so it is not the most portable Bluetooth speaker you can have, but if you want something strong, you have to accept this compromise.
Unlike the model produced by Tronsmart, the BlitzWolf BW- AS3 does not have IPX5 certification for splash or rain resistance. In terms of design, the speaker promises 360-degree stereo sound and a maximum power of 70W (10 watts more than the T6 Max). It can be connected to the phone via Bluetooth 5.0, 3.5mm jack type cable or NFC. It also has a built-in microphone, so it can also be used to answer calls.
The control panel is located at the top, is illuminated and allows touch controls. Inside there is also a battery with a capacity of 12000 mAh, which should provide up to 20 hours of use (with a volume of 50%). A full charge takes 6 hours. It uses a USB- C port for charging, but can also be connected to a DC power source. This requires a transformer that we will have to buy separately.
It also has the TWS function, through which we can connect 2 speakers of the same kind to create a full audio system.
Although it is an interesting speaker, at the moment I do not find enough reasons or advantages for which I would choose BlitzWolf Loa bw as3 at the expense of Tronsmart T6 Max, the price being similar. It is 10W more powerful, but it loses water resistance, these being the main differences between the 2 speakers. Maybe in the future, if the price drops, it will become more interesting and even an option to consider.
